High Country Harvest is an autumn celebration of the finest food, wine and beer in Victoria’s spectacular North East. Best of all, much of the sipping, sampling and savouring of the local bounty grown and created by chefs, artisan producers, craft brewers and winemakers in the region can be combined with a bike ride thanks to the great rail trails in the area. Here’s just a couple of events designed to really take advantage of this.
The Whistlestop High Tea is a progressive tea party on wheels with one of the most spectacular views in the North East. Cycle from railway station to railway station along the High Country Rail Trail on the foreshore of Lake Hume. Cross the iconic Sandy Creek bridge whilst experiencing scrumptious high tea delights at stops along this very flat and easy grade gravel rail trail. Check out all the details and make your booking online here.
For the Love of Honey is on Saturday May 24th in Beechworth and celebrates the launch of the Beechworth Honey Blossom to Blossom Bee Flora Cycle Circuit. Pedal around Beechworth and discover what it is that makes this region the perfect place for producing 100% pure Australian honey. Soak in the fresh air and country views, then stop along the way for an afternoon picnic. Sounds like a sweet day on the bike! You can check out the details and find booking details here.
And of course there is the annual Sweet Cycle, a chance to celebrate vintage style, feast on seasonal produce, savour world class wines and relax as you roll through the picturesque Rutherglen countryside. You can read more about that here!
