Treadlie Street: Issue 20

Who? Sophie Shaw, Social Worker and Jessica Ladlow, Urban Planner

Wearing? We are wearing silver sequin onesies, purple cape and lots of glitter!

Your bike? Jess: First big purchase after being employed full time in my first job as an urban planner. I wanted my bike to be strong but light, so I got the good people at Jetnikoff to help me build one. Sophie: I’m riding my Lightfoot bike polo bike I built up myself with the donation of parts by some of my generous bicycle friends.

Going? We are about to embark on Bike Rave 2017 which leaves from Birrarung Mar annually, first stop – skate park behind the Botanical gardens.

Why ride? Sophie: I love riding for exercise, practicality and enjoyment, riding makes me happy! #bikesrule. Jess: walking is too slow and I never liked driving a car. Bikes for life!!

Favourite ride?Jess: Park Street linear park and bike path. So lush for an inner city bike path. Although it’s a busy bike path, there is always a good flow of movement, and the bike path cuts across some of my fav destination streets in Melbourne. Sophie: I love cruising down Canning Street and I’m also a big fan of Park Street bike path.

While riding you…? Sophie: Clear my head after work and take in my surroundings. Jess: Try to race everyone in front of me on the road on my daily commute.
