The Women’s Ride is a single day celebration of women’s riding. It’s Victoria’s first mass participation riding event designed especially for women. Cycling Victoria are inviting individuals, organisations, clubs, social riding groups, bike shops or groups of friends to submit a ride or event taking place on 12 April 2015. It could be bike polo, a trails ride, an op-shop ride, a Pushy Women talkfest or a ride up a mountain!
Taking part in The Women’s Ride is as simple as getting on your bike. If you aren’t submitting a ride or event of your own, you can choose from all the events listed on the website so get your friends organised, pump up your tyres and get on your bike!
The Women’s Ride is intended to be a regular community event that gets people talking about women and bikes. You can make it your day by getting you and your friends involved. The Women’s Ride is an initiative of Cycling Victoria, and is supported by Vic Health, The Squeaky Wheel and is aligned with the Amy Gillett Foundation as a charitable partner. They’re hoping the ride will be a catalyst for discussion around issues of gender in cycling.
