The Otway Odyssey is presented by Focus and is held on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 of February. Known as “Australia’s most respected bike marathon”; this year, the event is set to again live up to its reputation.
Entrants can choose between five rides of varying distance and difficulty. The 100-kilometre namesake ride, the Otway Odyssey, is well-regarded for the quality and quantity of single track on offer and renowned for its “lung-busting” hills. The 50-kilometre Shorty is suitable for riders of all abilities and offers a mixture of single track and smaller hills – the perfect mid-distance event. The 30-kilometre Rookie is ideal for newbie mountain bikers and capable young riders. The 10-kilometre Pioneer ride is designed to give young mountain bikers a taste of the action on a mix of 4WD tracks, swooping single track, rainforest, roads and natural scenery. In 2018, the Otway Pioneer will again include a category for handcycles. Lastly, the Grommets event is for kids aged three to eight and involves a ride and activities and the Forrest footy ground.
The Otway Odyssey truly offers something for everyone in a glorious natural setting, be they riders or spectators.
