Pink Flamingo, designed by French architect Stéphane Maupin may be notable amongst architects for its foundation-less construction, resting instead on twenty-seven piles connected to a concrete slab by springing boxes, but it is a couple of other features that will catch the eye of bike riders. Designed as student accommadation on the east side of Paris, our favourite feature has to be the ramp, visible from the street in the photo below, allowing bike riders to ride up from the street to the first floor in order to store their bicycles.
Bicycles also adorn the exterior of the building. The facade facing Chinatown features balconies decorated with fans. bicycles and birdcages.
