If you’ve never seen a penny stack here’s your chance! Pennys by the Sea is the annual Queensland Penny Farthing and Historical Cycling Club get together with a full weekend of penny farthing racing, riding and socialising at Sandgate.
Events kick off on Saturday November 22nd with the Queensland Penny Farthing Championships race at Nundah criterium track. The race will be followed by a ride via the beach and wetlands for Penny’s and historical bikes to Einbunpin Lagoon at Sandgate. Here there’ll be a sausage sizzle, live music, a coffee van and the opportunity to have your photo taken on a penny farthing before a town crier will ring in a mass ride (in traditional dress) around the lagoon followed by the official penny stack! There will be photo opportunities and winners announced for the race, the best penny and rider and the best costumed supporter. Dinner will follow at the The Full Moon Hotel, Eagle Terrace, Sandgate before Sunday kicks off with more rides!
