In an effort to simply their lives, and investigate how others have gone about doing the same, Greg Foyster and his partner, Sophie Chishkovsky, set out on their bikes and travelled from Melbourne to Cairns via Tasmania. Changing Gears, a pedal-powered detour from the rat race describes their journey, on the bike and personally.
Preposterously underprepared, they are propelled by the inspiring and eccentric characters they meet along the way – from a forest activist living up a tree to an 18th-century woodsman and a monk walking barefoot through Queensland. Changing Gears explores an important question for the future: can we be happier with less?
Changing Gears will be launched by journalist Michael Green from 6-8 Thursday 19th September at Affirm Press in South Melbourne. There’ll be pedal-powered tacos, solar beer and pedal-powered music and the best way to get there will of course be by bike.
From there Greg and Sophie embark on a 200okm book tour by bike. First stop on the tour is at The Sun Bookshop, Yarraville where there will be refreshments and of course the opportunity to meet Greg and buy his book. RSVP: [email protected] or 9689 0661
