Boucle De Burbs is a cycling tour of the relatively unknown and unchartered backstreets and laneways of Adelaide – a well as the surrounding suburbs.
The aim is to offer an event that provides a great day out on the bike with friends and family. It is not a race. Riders are given a map to follow, allowing participants to take as long as they need, with opportunities to stop at local cafes along the way for rest and refreshments.
This year the event will be held on Sunday 28th August. They are following the same successful formula a previous years, and based on the growth experienced in previous years are expecting to achieve a turnout of approximately 750 riders at this years event.
Last year they exceeded their allocated capacity, reaching 550 registrations well before the ride day (two times the amount of interest from the previous year). The interest and demand for the event has been overwhelming.
The conclusion of the ride will see local food businesses (such as Veggie Velo & Velo Espresso) taking part and assisting us with feeding the hungry hoards after their big day out. The end of the day will be celebrated by giving away prizes for various shows of creativity, such as best-dressed and social media photographic challenges.
In previous years, the suggested and spontaneous contributions made to social media by ride participants on the day have been extensive. Checkout #boucledeburbs for evidence of this.
