Dare To Ride

Treadlie Magazine, The Squeaky Wheel and Pushy Women have organised Dare to Ride, a relaxed cake-fuelled ride in support of the Afghan Women’s Cycling Team.

If the biggest problem you have jumping on your bike is matching your scarf to your panniers, spare a thought for the women of Afghanistan for whom, whether they want to ride to the shops or ride to win, cultural norms make it almost impossible.

The Afghan Women’s Cycling Team is changing that with the support of the Mountain2Mountain foundation and Liv/Giant. A team of determined Afghan women are pedalling a revolution and have secured an invitation to compete at the Asian Games in South Korea in September.

Men and women from all over the globe will be riding in the Global Solidarity Ride,  we’ll be joining them, together with Catherine Deveny and Bridie O’Donell. The response to our ride has been brilliant and we’re now fully booked out!

If you missed out on a place then never fear, it is still possible to support the Afghan women by making a donation, however small,  here. better still, pass this on to your friends and family, maybe they’d like to help too?

We are maintaining a wait list for the ride, so register here if you’d like to be informed should a spot becomes available.

You can keep up to date with all the details at the Dare to Ride Facebook event. #solidarityride2014 #daretoride
