Treecycles

Velo-city Global brought hundreds of delegates, bicycles and ideas to Adelaide last week and yet amidst it all, never lost in the crowd, the eye-catching Treecycles stood out wherever they went.

Treecycles are the dynamic trio; Chris and Florence Trees and Daniel Langeberg. With respective backgrounds in manufacturing engineering, business development and urban design, this English-French-Australian business team forged their partnership in China and bought it to the streets of Adelaide with style and flair.

Their distinctive and beautifully designed tricycles are constructed from laminated steam pressed bamboo bodywork and mudguards with a durable 2 pack weather and UV resistant finish. The electric assist motor, Gates carbon drive belt and Nu Vinci N360 hub are just some of the elements of these beautifully specified machines that speak to the attention to detail, both practical and aesthetic that has gone into them.

Treecycles however is much more than just a tricycle. The philosophy behind them is to rethink an old industry, change old habits and challenge the assumptions of those that think comfort and convenience translate to a high economic and environmental cost. Treecycles want to unite and support the city by implementing mobility services that satisfy needs in ways previously thought impossible. They are designed as flexible, cost- effective, eye-catching, convenient and at the same time sustainable; able to access the city’s underutilised spaces, to delight users and so boost the image of the city as a green, vibrant and pleasant city both to live in, or to visit. Whether it is by fleets of tricycles helping move people around the city, or by supporting freight options for business Treecycles are determined to be a dynamic part of the cities of the future. If the energy and enthusiasm they brought with them to Velo-city Global in Adelaide is anything to go by, not to mention their energy on the dance floor, we’re sure they will be!
