SheSpoke is a celebration of cycling about having fun, making connections with other women, learning new skills and trying something you may not have tried before. Following from the success of last year, SheSpoke continues in 2016 with a featured speaking event, bike yoga and cargo bikes all while celebrating local bike riding groups. SheSpoke will be held on Sunday 6 March to tie in with International Women’s Day, Cycling Victoria’s Awards and The Women’s Ride.

Host or join a group ride along the beach and into the SheSpoke Hub and then stay for the light champagne lunch from 12pm to 2pm where keynote speakers will discuss the issues of riding in Melbourne as a real transport choice in a Q&A forum. The topic will be ‘Taking the Sport out of Transport’ – where does everyday bike riding fit and how do we shake the stereotype?

Last year it was a healthy but heated discussion with speakers from VicRoads, Amy Gillett, journalists and local advocacy groups. Speakers will give their point of view on the statement for 2-3 minutes, then followed by a Q&A style discussion. Mayor Bernadene Voss will open the talk with speakers including Pip Carroll (The Squeaky Wheel), Melissa Pirie (Australian Cycle Alliance), Dr Evelyn Légaré (VicRoads) and CR Amanda Stevens (City of Port Phillip).

WHERE: SheSpoke Hub, The Great Provider, 42A Marine Parade, St Kilda VIC 3182. Please note there are road closures due to a triathlon until 11.30am. The off-road beach bike path from Elwood Canal into the city will remain open. Crossings can be made at Dickens which will lead you into the venue and the off-road bike path, or at Cowderoy Street.

WHEN: Sunday 6 March, 10am – 6pm (Champagne lunch and speakers from 12 – 2pm)

REGISTRATION: SheSpoke registration and be sure to join in other activities at The Women’s Ride.
