The MIPS range is expected to reach Australian shores in March 2018. The Portland-based brand known for colourful, printed helmets created for the urban cycling revolution will be offering MIPS in the Baby Nutty for the first time, alongside specific designs in their classic helmet lines including Little Nutty, Street and Metroride.
Developed by Swedish researchers and brain surgeons over the past 20 years, MIPS is designed to provide protection against rotational motion (or kinematics) transmitted to the brain from angled impacts to the head. Helmets with MIPS can absorb and redirect more of the rotational energy and forces, offering better protection than helmets not equipped with the technology.
