Dinner Plain Bike Park opens

Dinner Plain sits nestled in pristine Alpine National Park on The Great Alpine Road, creating a magnificent setting for trails. In November, the Dinner Plain Bike Park is officially opening which includes 20 kilometres of new trails flowing around the alpine village, conveniently trails leave from your chalet door, so leave the car and just ride.

Dinner Plain summers are cool and stunning with mountain views that stretch for miles and alpine architecture inspired by cattlemen’s huts which blend harmoniously with the environment. There are loops for everyone and in typical North East style you can hook in a coffee or stop at the brewery on your ride, then head back onto the trails.

There are cruisy flow trails like Ollie’s or Sir Jax, which is like a giant pump track. Challenge yourself on the techie rocks and big berms on JabbaWokkie, or try a fast mix of old and new school on Moby’s. Pull out the small handlebars and hit fall line rocks and roots on Kenny’s or pump the hits and berms on Fergs. If you are just starting out, try a casual wind through the trees on Baxter’s or the big wide trails of Fitzy’s or Collector’s. If you are looking to gravel grind then smash up to Hotham and back or down to Cobungra on the DP track.

The local bike club, DP Riders and the Alpine Shire Council will be hosting an official opening day of new trails, riding, music, local food and beer on Saturday 16th November. It’s a chance to ride bikes, talk bikes, try bikes, dance on bikes and race for bragging rights on the bikes. Talk tech with trail builders, test new bikes, compete over the various trails. Between runs sit back, hit the pump track, mini trials and wheelie comps or just listen to live music, grab a coffee, a fresh beer from Blizzard, or something tasty cooked up by Ben and the High Plains crew.

Dinner Plain is located 10 kilometres from Mount Hotham; there’s plenty of space and extensive trail networks to explore on bike or foot. The village offers affordable private chalets and hotel room accommodation in summer.
