Thousands of cyclists are expected to ride from Glenelg to Victor Harbor on Sunday 3 April in a bid to get more bums on bikes and raise money for the Smith Family.

‘This ride is all about getting more bums on bikes,’ says Christian Haag, CEO of Bicycle SA. ‘From the regulars through to families looking to enjoy some exercise in the great outdoors. And as always, our team of volunteers will provide full support along the way, with more than enough food, water and route support’.

Riders can choose to ride 20 – 65 – 95 or 120 kilometres all the way from Glenelg to Victor Harbor along South Australia’s most spectacular cycling routes. Recreational cycling is booming in Adelaide and currently 270,000 South Australians ride a bike every week.

Riders aged from one to eighty-two will be riding on the day with television personality Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello leading off the ‘Mini Coast to Coast’ family ride in Victor Harbor.

‘I’m pretty stoked about the ride’, says Adelaide local Tess Murray. ‘It will be the second time I’ve had a go at riding more than 100 kilometres in a day, so I’m nervous – but excited at the same time’.

Riders in the Coast to Coast ride have been asked to take on an extra challenge to raise funds for The Smith Family to help disadvantaged Australian children get the most out of their education.

One in ten Australian children live in financial disadvantage. Support through this event will help prevent many of these children from slipping through the cracks.
