Bike Palooza Bendigo

Bike Palooza Bendigo, the month-long festival celebrating cycling and culture in October is here again! The bikepalooza.com online calendar features more than 120 cycling related rides, events and activities for the whole family to celebrate the joy of adding a bike to your life.

Bike Bendigo is collaborating again with Cycle-Life HQ, the City of Greater Bendigo and Bendigo Cycling Classic and others to run a series of events including:

  • Australian Walking and Cycling Conference (29-30 October)
  • CycleLifeHQ National Cycling Tourism Conference (26 October)
  • Pop-up learn to ride park and Open Streets Bendigo (27 October)
  • Filmed by Bike international film festival (27 October
  • Bendigo Cycling Classic (28 October)
  • Open Streets Bendigo at Fun Loong Fun Day (20 October)
  • Ride2Work Day (17 October)
  • Community rides every Sunday and more

On Saturday 27 October Bike Bendigo will host a first of its kind, pop-up learn to ride park, Open Streets festival and community art project on Havlin Street East, next to Wolstencroft Park.

Community bike rides will be held every Sunday at 10am from locations across Greater Bendigo. The ride on 14 October will be Bendigo’s first ‘Yarn ride’ featuring the work of the Bendigo’s Yarn bombers. Participants are encouraged to wear something knitted, a woolly jumper or scarf on the ride.

Bike Palooza will launch on the Grand Final public holiday this Friday where families are encouraged to ride in their favourite dress-ups and join a picnic and free creative activities including screen printing your own Bike Palooza Bendigo flag, face painting and more from 2-4pm at Wolstencroft Park, Flora Hill.

Bike Bendigo President Nicola Dunnicliff-Wells says: “With partners across Greater Bendigo, Australia and visits by international experts, we are creating fun opportunities across the month for people to bike where they live and love where they live!”

Robert Kretschmer, creator of Bike Palooza Bendigo said: “We love this time of year, the weather is great and more people are out on their bike.
