Australian Walking and Cycling Conference

Globally-renowned bike culture experts Melissa and Chris Bruntlett from Modacity, Vancouver will headline this year’s Australian Walking and Cycling Conference hosted in Bendigo by Bike Bendigo.

Melissa and Chris Bruntlett are the co-founders of Modacity; a creative agency using words, photography, and film to inspire happier, healthier, simpler forms of mobility. Together, they work with a variety of organisations, including municipal governments, transportation agencies, non-profits, and corporate clients. Modacity to address the evolving needs of cities, large and small, enabling a variety of mobility options as a way to create successful and more liveable regions. Melissa and Chris’ stories of emerging bike cultures from around the world have been featured in many notable international publications.

Bike Bendigo Treasurer and Australian Walking and Cycling Conference Convener Robert Kretschmer said “We are delighted to have Melissa and Chris coming to Bendigo, particularly following the release of their book Building the Cycling City: The Dutch Blueprint for Urban Vitality.”

“Modacity has extensive knowledge, skills and experience to promote and build the culture of cycling cities, large and small. They will share this knowledge with Bendigo and conference attendees from other Australian cities and regions.”

In addition to the Australian Walking and Cycling Conference, Bendigo will host the CycleLifeHQ Australian Bicycle Tourism Conference and Tourism Workshop on 26 October at the Bendigo Tennis Centre. Melissa and Chris will also speak at the Bicycle Tourism Conference.

Bike Bendigo’s annual Bike Palooza Bendigo festivities and Bendigo Cycling Classic events will make for a variety of activity across the weekend between the conferences.

Both conferences are supported by the City of Greater Bendigo.
