As this year’s High Country Harvest kicked off and the rain teemed down on Melbourne we celebrated the pies – the handmade Gum Tree variety – in sunny Yackandandah.

On a balmy autumn arvo post dawn yoga in the vines (the North East crew do turn it on) we headed out to the trail head of Yack Tracks. These four circuits are well managed long-form cross-country trails and cater for entry and intermediate level of mountain bike riders. Originally created on the quiet, a group of dedicated local riders, with the approval and support of local authorities, have created over 50 kilometres of tracks amongst the scrub of the Stanley State Forest. Half way through our ride we came across Nissy setting a cracking pace on her first Yack ride with her ol man trailing in her wake.
